“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.” Acts 2: 42-45 NRSV
Hearts on Fire was created to be a community of formational leaders within the United Methodist Church. We have drawn spiritual directors and retreat leaders together for fellowship and mutual nurturing through prayer and sacrament, sharing with all who have need. In this way, we are similar to the communities of the early church.
In these difficult financial times, some who would want to be a part of Hearts on Fire have had to allow their membership to lapse or will be unable to attend Hearts on Fire sponsored events due to their reduced circumstances. Our organization is a fiscally lean one; the Board is a working board and performs their duties without monetary remuneration in order that we might put all of our assets into the ministries of Hearts on Fire. While we are an affiliate of the General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church, we don’t receive any funding from the United Methodist Church.
Donations to the organization would be greatly appreciated as we seek to support these ministries as well as make scholarships available to those who have need and would like to participate in Hearts on Fire events. In order to make a donation to Hearts on Fire, click on the link below.
