It was her soul-ripening experience as a directee which led Brandy to pursue training in the ministry of spiritual direction. She holds a deep belief that when one’s story is told, heard, and sacredly held, a sense of freedom and purpose comes to light.
Brandy enjoys working one-on-one and with small groups, and she has an appreciation for the practices of lectio divina and visio divina.
Brandy’s training is fully accredited through the Benedictine Spiritual Direction Program at Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

My focus is on spiritual practices, especially centering prayer, meditation, and lectio divina. I am particularly interested in companioning with the "nones", "dones", and "searchers", a group particularly close to my heart. Also, I welcome all marginalized people who have experienced oppression, loneliness, and spiritual emptiness, as well as those who struggle with life-dominating addictions. My conviction that God is interested in and actively present within all areas of human life undergirds the process of spiritual direction.
I earned the Masters of Theological Studies from the Iliff School of Theology and have been trained in the Benedictine tradition of spiritual direction through the St. Benet Monastery in Denver, Colorado. I am a minister in the United Methodist Church and have experience in pastoral counseling.

I am an elder in the Florida Conference of the UMC. The bulk of my work has been in the parish setting. Fifteen years ago I planted a church called Good Samaritan that appealed to a diverse group of folks many who had left the church or had been rejected by the church of their youth for various reasons. I stumbled into interfaith work as a member of The God Squad. This interfaith clergy panel presented 9 programs a year addressing issues in the news from our different faith backgrounds. It was here that I first experienced the profound presence of the Living God in my Muslim, Hindu and Jewish colleagues. Through those experiences I sensed a genuine call to offer Spiritual Direction to people of all faiths and no faith in group and individual settings

It has been my privilege to hold sacred space for people through retreat work and spiritual direction. My childhood was spent in the Roman Catholic church and my marriage took me into life in a Methodist parsonage. I appreciate the opportunities for ecumenical relationships and am honored to create safe space for those in ministry. Over the past 5 years, I've been enriched through additional studies in how the Enneagram serves us in our transformation. My personal call is to companion with others as they desire to know themselves and their God more intimately.

Early retirement [in June, 2018] from parish ministry in the United Methodist Church has allowed me to direct my energies most fully on my core passion in ministry, spiritual formation. "Zoe-Life Explorations" (at www.zoe-life.net) is the name that I and my wife of 35 years, Kathy, have given to a series of program offerings designed to facilitate experiences in and conversations about spiritual formation in the lives of individuals and faith communities.
A 1983 graduate of Texas A&M University, I attended Perkins School of Theology -- receiving an M.Div. (in 1987) and a D.Min. (in 1992). In 2018, I completed all coursework (at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary) pursuant to a Professional Certification in Spiritual Formation through the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

Sharing a spiritual journey is how I view spiritual direction. Like any journey, it is best taken with a trusted companion. Currently, one-on-one spiritual direction is what I do. My approach to a session is to be in prayer by being open to the presence of the Holy Spirit. Throughout the session I attempt to ask questions that will enhance discernment.
While counseling and the process of spiritual direction are different, I am influenced by my retired career of psychology.
