Here is a poem from Mary Oliver:
Mysteries, Yes
Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelous to be understood.
How grass can be nourishing in the mouths of the lambs.
How rivers and stones are forever in allegiance with gravity while we ourselves dream of rising.
How two hands touch and the bonds will never be broken.
How people come, from delight or the scars of damage, to the comfort of a poem.
Let me keep my distance, always, from those who think they have the answers.
Let me keep company always with those who say “Look!” and laugh in astonishment, and bow their heads.

Shaped by Story: Understanding and Sharing the Arc of our Experience facilitated by Melissa Tidwell
Storytelling can seem like a tidy and tame art form—like the gentle way we soothe our children to sleep. But stories are powerful. They activate awareness, reveal truths, heal wounds. Storytelling can be prophetic and profound.
In our May time together, pastor/storyteller Melissa Tidwell will lead us into an appreciation of how stories help us make meaning from experience and how we can faithfully mine the gifts of story in our work as spiritual leaders.
Melissa Tidwell has written about metaphor, music, maps, and zombies. She is the former editor of Alive Now magazine, and the author of Embodied Light: Advent Reflections on Incarnation. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, Melissa is the pastor of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Stockton, California.
