How many times have I wished God would speak to me, give me answers or at the very least, provide guidance. The introduction of this book says: “The ancient Hebrews and early Christians claimed that one of the primary ways God speaks to God’s people is through dreams: not “a” way, but the “primary” way.”
Each chapter in this book uses a dream from the Bible to guide one through the language God uses to take us to a deeper place of healing and wholeness.
Fourteen “letters” from God are presented including:
Climbing Jacob’s Ladder
Wrestling with an Inner Adversary
Joseph’s Journey through Hell to Wholeness
Miriam’s Jealousy
Jesus’ Desert Vision
Paul, Blinded by the Light Hears a Voice
Peter’s Dream Changes Christianity: Could it happen today?
Different dreams/chapters provide various ways that reveal the process of unlocking dreams including metaphors, archetypical symbols, how to ask questions, repetitive dreams, and the difference between a dream and a vision.
Because it is a Workbook, each chapter provides a space and guidance to pray one of your own dreams that is similar to the Biblical dream.
There are several Appendix including: how to write down a dream for individual dream work, guidelines for dream groups, Jungian terminology, bibliography and other resources including DVDs, dream courses and an annual conference at the Haden Institute.
The book is 197 pages including the worksheets. Each chapter is 3 – 6 pages long. One could read the chapters individually as well as sequentially. The book is designed to be used by individuals and groups; each person in the group would need their own workbook.
I encourage you to take a look at this book for yourself as well as a resource to share with directees.
