Whitney began practicing yoga as part of her recovery after stroke and brain surgery in 2005. She was hesitant a yoga practice could ease her chronic pain. Needless to say, she was wrong. Embracing the practices of yoga and meditation have been foundational for her healing journey. Whitney recently published the devotional, Holy Listening with Breath, Body, and the Spirit, with Upper Room Books. She is founder of Exploring Peace Ministries (www.ExploringPeace.com) and co-owner of Bloom Yoga Studio (www.BloomYoga.Studio) offering soul care through yoga, meditation, spiritual direction, and contemplative retreats. Whitney is a Deaconess in the United Methodist Church and is an advocate for peace and human equality, longing to create safe space for all people.

Alyss works as a pastoral psychotherapist under her license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and currently under the supervision of a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She works with the understanding that we are a creation that experiences God, Self, and the World through our mind, body, and spirit. Our well-being and ability to fully experience each part of that trinity is informed through the health and partnership of its constituents. A person's spiritual direction is, therefore, a holistic experience. Alyss is a deacon in full connection in the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church. For more information please visit: http://www.processes.org/therapist/alyss/. Alyss is available for in-person or by video using ZOOM.

For most of my life I have loved spiritual and creative things. Now, my work is about combining the two to help people experience and revel in God’s deep love. In particular, I love to help people be still and listen for God’s voice; bring their pain and trauma to God; and learn to find joy and peace in their spiritual lives.
I’m the author of five books on the use of beads in prayer, healing from trauma, and living as God's beloved. I travel extensively to lead retreats and workshops, and work with soldiers who have PTSD. I have a studio with space and materials for people to explore their spirituality from a creative point of view. I am a spiritual director, and also own a yoga studio.
I have a Master of Theological Studies from Duke Divinity School, and completed the two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation (#34).
I live in Atlanta with my husband, Max, a United Methodist pastor, and our teenage son, Matthew.

I practice one on one spiritual direction snd love those sacred relationships.
Journeyers can learn much in individual spiritual direction. And It has been my profound experience that we grow and mature with more depth and grace in small groups of safety and mutual practice that lead to transformation in the individual, the WE, which hopefully leads to wholeness and communitas for all.

As a lay woman I have served in various leadership roles within the local church and participate in prison ministry. My retreat experience consists of leading church retreats, a staff retreat, clergy covenant group retreats, and workshops on spiritual formation (labyrinth, spiritual disciplines, spiritual gifts). I was a member of the Two Year Academy 20, and have been retreat leader for the 5 Day in FL as well as on the leadership team for Academy 32. My main passion centers on providing spiritual direction in the conference for Shade and Fresh Water (S&FW). I presently serve on the Circle for S&FW, the Spiritual Formation Team, and the Conference Clergy Effectiveness Committee.
